Alaska has
the highest known incidence of fetal alcohol spectrum disorder in the nation.
Stephanie Scott, a state-certified FASD instructor presented a free training
on FASD featuring primary and secondary behaviors associated with the condition,
diagnostic procedures, and the many resources the State of Alaska has for
people with FASD. The training was attended by staff from the Haines Borough
school District, Haines Police Department, the Library and other individuals
interested in increasing their knowledge of the disorder. The training was
engaging and interactive, with participants practicing specific interventions
to use in their workplace.
The program was funded by Alaska Department of Health and Social Services/Behavioral Health.
